Buying, Selling, and Bartering
Personal Goods and Services
In The Community Forums

The individual forums in TheTalkOfLawrence.com community forums that are dedicated to buying, selling, and bartering are intended primarily for the use of individuals. There is no cost to either buy or sell in these forums. We don't mind if small business want to offer their fellow Lawrencians a special deal now and again, but big businesses are not welcome to sell in these forums; big business has a wide range of sales channels available to it. The definition of "big business" will be made by us at our discretion. As a rule of thumb, if you have a storefront of some kind, especially a big one, you will not be allowed to sell here. If you have a question about this, ask here.

Postings may include both goods and services. The closer you are to an individual, the more likely you are to be able to sell things here. The closer you are to General Motors, the less likely you are to be allowed to sell things here. These forums are places for special deals and bargains, more than anything else, although you will certainly find items of quality here.

Within the rules about business sizes, the types of goods and services that you can be advertised in these forums include, but are not limited to: appliances, automobiles, automobile parts, clothing, electronics, garage sales, home services, motorcycles, musical instruments, personal household goods, personal household furniture, pets, rentals (apartments and homes), re-sold tickets to events, works of personal art, yard sales, and yard services. It is expected that most of the goods sold here are used and that most of the services are offered by individuals or at the largest, families.

All that we are doing is providing the facilities for buyers and seller. You can easily upload photos of the goods being offered, within certain limits. You can send private forum messages back and forth to make a deal. You can exchange contact information either in public or in private messages. There is a time limit on how long a topic will be allowed to stay alive. Usually, that is 14 days from the date of the original post, but it may be shorter when things are really busy. That said, we have no objection if you didn't sell it the first time and want to re-post an item.

The regular forum rules apply to the buy and sell forums as well, and may be found here.
