Walking into Au Marche is like stepping into Paris or Berlin right off the Massachusetts Street sidewalk. Owner Lora Wiley has worked extremely hard, from a fire in her first tiny store to her spacious shop of today, and every bit of effort has been worth it. |

My German mother-in-law has been known to wax poetic over the goods that Lora imports. My German father-in-law grudgingly admits that every dollar his wife spends there is worth it. From candy to sausage to cheese and crackers, this amazing store has more French, German, and Italian goodies per square foot than almost anyplace we have every been. It seems that there is a delight in every corner, nook, and cranny of this shop.

There are things here that you just won't find anywhere else in Lawrence, and probably nowhere else in Kansas. The selection is phenomenal, the pricing fair and the European charm everywhere you look. If Lora doesn't have something you want, the chances are good that she knows exactly where to get it. She is every bit as knowledgeable as she is customer-oriented. If you have to send someone with sophisticated taste to just one place in Lawrence, Au March is that place. |
